The CX242 was designed for those riders with foot issues such as bunions, deformation or extremely narrow feet who need a shoe that will not beat their feet up, giving the rider the endurance they need to stay on the bike. The Premio Bibshort has been engineered to provide the ultimate in long-distance comfort and to be your favorite bibshort ever. That's a big claim, but there's a lot of development in this short to back it up. So let's take a tour of the short. The first thing you might notice is what's missing: the seams and multiple panels. We engineered a new fabric that changes depending on the needs over various parts of the body. The lower leg has a raw-cut leg ending and rubberized yarns to guarantee a flat grip to keep the leg in place. The fabric becomes lighter in the thigh, while the four-way stretch provides just the right amount of muscle support. In the pelvis area, the compression and support increase to keep the seat pad and everything else in place, and the fabric gets thicker to avoid any embarrassing transparency issues. With this magical fabric we don't need to stitch separate panels together, which ensures more comfort and a better fit, as well as a sleek, sophisticated look. The Sidi Ergo 4 features Sidi's Tecno 3 buckle system, which uses two different ratcheting dials for a customizable fit across the instep. The Tecno 3 system is low-profile and tidier than Sidi's signature ratcheting buckle, and it also allows for an even greater degree of micro adjustability and fit consistency across the entire shoe. As with all of Sidi's fastening hardware, you can fiddle with the Tecno 3 buckles in the saddle; however, the standard Tecno-3 lacks the Tecno-3 Push's little red release button. The Genius 7 is the Sidi pro road shoe that Fabian Cancellara, his CSC Team, and countless other pro riders took to the world’s toughest races a few years back. It features the famous buckle-and-two-strap retention system that Sidi pioneered. And it has the long day comfort you’ve come to expect from Sidi. The retention system has several components. First is the Sidi Soft Instep 2 strap, linking the buckle tongue to the shoe does a great job of spreading out the pressure of the retention system so you don’t feel any restriction on your foot. The buckle has three elements to it. There’s the fast lever, the micro-adjust levers, and the release button. You can slide the tongue in, ratchet down quickly, carefully micro-adjust, then release. The Velcro straps actually have plastic teeth in the middle of them. They supplement the hook-and-loop closer system. The final element is the reinforced heel cup, which keeps the back of your foot firmly in the shoe no matter how hard you pull up. The sole is their Millennium 5 shoe bottom. It’s a carbon-injected nylon. It’s stiffer than a nylon sole, but saves on the cost of a carbon sole. It's fair to say that we've been working on this short for the past 15 years. That's how long it's been since the original free aero race bibshort was first introduced, initially as our top-of-the-line race short. Since then it has won three Tours de France, three Gri d'Italia, one Vuelta, and San Remo, but it also became the best-selling product in the history of Castelli because, simply put, this is the short that does everything well. The concept is quite simple: start with the best pad we know how to make, surround it with a supportive short with good muscle compression, and then remove everything else that's not absolutely necessary. You feel free thanks to the reduced number of panels and the reduced number of seams. In fact, the short portion has just 5 panels compared to 10 in the previous generation. First and foremost, this short features the top-of-the-line Progetto X2 air seamless seat pad. The pad has two separate components: a soft, stretchy skin care layer that coddles your skin, and a separate cushioning layer with dual-density foam and gel pads for progressive damping. The best pad is worthless if moves around, so we've constructed the hip area in our compressive force fabric, which holds the pad in place while providing good ventilation. The name velocissima means "very fast" in Italian, and indeed there's a lot of speed in this jersey, even though it wasn't designed as a race jersey.
